The BAGC has since 2017 been in partnership with the WFP Country office in the organisation and capacity building of farmers associations in Manica Province. This programme was implemented within the framework of the PURCHASE FOR PROGRESS (P4P) initiative in which WFP works with partners in the public and private sector to extend its purchase programmes of staple food crops programme to directly benefit smallholder farmers. 

BAGC was responsible for

  • Capacity building associations in gender and equity gender that includes the logistics arrangements and a pre and post training assessment. 
  • Training of associations in institutional development that includes financial literacy and all logistics arrangements. 
  • Association’s members are trained on the use and maintenance of post-harvest technologies that WFP has already distributed to the Farmer’s Organizations. 

The activities were carried out in Manica Province targeting a total of 216 clubs of 5 Farmer Organisation’s (3 in Barue, 1 in Sussundenga and 1 in Macate District): 32 clubs Samora Machel, 41 clubs Culima cuacanaca, 53 clubs Bathani Phaza, 36 clubs Kuguta Kuchanda and 54 clubs Siwuama. A total of 150 direct beneficiaries.
